ax.art jazz ensemblegenre country origin biography Ax.Art is a music ensemble performing the music of Achillefs Sourlas, the composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Berlin. Achillefs' music is an eclectic collage of sound which draws inspiration from diverse sources such as contemporary music, electroacoustic, jazz, latin, rock, as well as free improvisation. In its current form, Ax.Art ensemble consists of Achillefs on flute, alto saxophone, keys and live electronics, plus three other musicians, playing percussion (mainly cajon), double bass and saxophone/trumpet (depending on the musician).
Achillefs Sourlas (Larisa, 1978) is Greek-born composer and performer, currently living in Berlin. As a performer on flute, saxophone, piano/keys and electronics he has played with various orchestras, big bands and other music ensembles in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Jazz Cafe, Glasgow National Concert Hall, Edinburgh Festival Theatre. He has also written music for various ensembles, theater, film, websites, as well as electronic music. His record output consists of 13 releases on e-soundscapes, a music production collective that he co-founded in 2006.
